HMRC are hoping their new and innovative technology will help people renew their tax credits by 31 July.
Customers with Amazon Alexa-enabled devices can ask to ‘open HMRC’ to obtain help and information, without worry of any personal information being stored. The service is developed specifically for those seeking help with tax credit renewals.
It follows the previous release of the HMRC App, available on smartphone, which enables customers to renew tax credits, check out tax credit payments schedules and find out their earnings for the year.
With more than 3 million needing to renew their tax credits online by 31 July, it is hoped a more sizable chunk than the 38,411 customers who used the App in 2017, will choose do so this year.
