HMRC have published the statutory rates for Maternity pay, Paternity pay, Shared Parental pay, Adoption pay and Sick pay for use from April 2019.
Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) will rise from £145.18, or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings, if this is less than the statutory rate, to £148.68. This change will occur on the first Sunday in April, which in 2019 will be 7th April.
Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP), Statutory Shared Parental Pay (SSPP) and Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP) will also all increase to £148.68 from the same time.
Finally, from 6th April, Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) will be increasing from £92.05 to £94.25 per week.
To be entitled to all of these statutory payments, the employee’s average weekly earnings must be more than, or equal to, the lower earnings limit, which from April 2019 is set to increase to £118 per week.
