Authorised Economic Operator Status

Authorised Economic Operator Status - Brexit

Any company involved in an international supply chain carrying out Customs related activities in the EU should consider applying for Authorised Economic Operator Status.

A business which has achieved Authorised Economic Operator Status (AEO) has shown itself to be a trustworthy trader, and this internationally recognised quality mark is being highlighted by the UK Government as something that will reduce the risk of delays at the Post-Brexit border.

The status means quicker access to simplified Customs procedures and, in some cases, the right to fast track shipments through.

Being able to demonstrate that your supply chain is secure and your Customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant can give your business access to many other commercial benefits. By completing the rigorous process of applying for AEO status you may find that you see:

  • Fewer delays in despatch
  • Increased transport security
  • Reduced administration
  • That you become a preferred supplier in tender applications.

Those businesses most likely to benefit include manufacturers, exporters, importers, freight forwarders and airline loaders.

Post Brexit, this certification will be a highly beneficial tool to keep cargo moving, as priority may be given at the borders.

Support is available to UK businesses who wish to consider achieving this status.
